Seven Lakes Set for Infrastructure Upgrade with New Sewer System

The Moore County Board of Commissioners has initiated a project to introduce public sewer services to Seven Lakes, aimed at supporting the area's growth and resolving the limitations posed by existing septic systems. The project, intertwined with the N.C. 211 road expansion, involves a comprehensive design plan by LKC Engineering, funded through state grants and ARP funds. While specifics on residential connections and infrastructure layout are yet to be finalized, the move is widely seen as a positive development for enhancing local infrastructure and stimulating commercial activity. Linden Road Lane Closure Alert: Natural Gas Installation Underway

Duke Energy will be installing natural gas mains along Linden Road, spanning from Saville Row to Hollycrest Drive. The work started Monday, Feb. 26 and will continue through February 28th, with partial road closures. Specifically, one lane on Linden Road will be shut down daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to facilitate the safe installation of the gas mains.

Motorists should expect delays within the construction zone and are encouraged to allocate additional travel time or seek alternative routes to bypass the affected area. Flaggers will be on-site to manage the flow of traffic. For inquiries or concerns contact the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) at 910-944-7621.

Robbins Resident Arrested in Extortion and Cyberstalking Case

The Moore County Sheriff's Department has successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with an extortion case in the Robbins area. The investigation was triggered by a complaint received on November 21, 2023, wherein a victim reported receiving multiple threatening messages via social media. The sender demanded a ransom, threatening to disclose sensitive personal information about the victim if their demands were not met.

Following an extensive investigation, Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of Rodolfo Chavez Betancourt, 38, from Robbins, North Carolina, on February 23, 2024. Betancourt faces serious charges, including one count of felony extortion, one count of cyberstalking, and one count of stalking.

The Sheriff's Office has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and that additional charges may be forthcoming. Anyone with information related to this case should contact the Moore County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 910-947-4444.

Nightly Lane Closures on Highway 15-501 Continue

Wealth Advisor Insider Nathan Cherry: A Financial Advisor is Like a Dentist

Located at 510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines 910-692-9014 [email protected]

I’m still surprised by the number of people who say they don’t have a financial adviser they are actively working with to address their financial goals and concerns. If statistics can be believed (you know how that goes), only about 35% of American adults are actively engaged with a financial advisor. That’s shocking.

Here’s how I look at it. You have a dentist. You go to your dentist. Do you go to your dentist because you don’t know how to brush your teeth? Of course not.

You go to your dentist because there’s things you don’t know, and you need an expert to check things out and let you know what is going on. And you want your dentist’s input if something under the surface needs addressed.

A financial advisor is no different. A good advisor knows the right questions to ask; knows what hidden risks are lurking about and can address things you don’t even know exist.

Now is a good time to get in touch with a solid financial advisor. Your teeth…I mean your financial future will thank you. Contact Nathan at 910-692-9014,
