Sheriff Fonnie Fields warns the public about recent scams involving imposters claiming to be from the Moore County Sheriff's Office, who falsely tell citizens they have an arrest warrant for not responding to a federal subpoena. The scammers ask victims to buy prepaid credit cards and give out personal information to avoid arrest. The Sheriff's Office reminds the public that law enforcement never demands money to prevent arrest and advises people to call them directly at 910-947-2931 for any doubts or concerns. Wealth Advisor Insider Nathan Cherry: How Do You Prepare For Christmas, Vacation, or a Major Purchase?

Nathan Cherry, Private Wealth Advisor
Hicks & Associates 910-692-9014
510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines

Christmas and vacation are wonderful times of the year. But they can also bring major debt, just like a major home project (ever replaced windows or a roof?). What can you do to be prepared for these eventual expenses?

One thing to consider is setting aside funds monthly to cover known annual expenses.

You know you will spend money at Christmas. You know you will take a vacation each year.

You know you will need to replace the water heater, refrigerator, or something else. To be prepared, set aside money each month earmarked for things like “Christmas fund,” or “home repairs.” If you intend to spend $2k on Christmas each year, set aside $165 each month and in 12 months you will have $2k. If you start doing this in December, by the following November you will have a fully funded Christmas fund.

It almost sounds too simplistic. But this one trick can help you avoid debt and be prepared for household purchases and projects. Hicks & Associates Website.
