Help Locate Missing Teen Fredrick Cooper

MIssing Teen Fredrick Cooper, 16 years old
The Aberdeen Police Department is reaching out to the community for help in locating a missing juvenile. Sixteen-year-old Fredrick Cooper was reported missing by his family on the evening of October 7, 2023. He was last seen in the Berkley Community. Fredrick is believed to be on foot, and he may be alone or in the company of another juvenile. Unfortunately, we do not have any specific information about his clothing at this time.
If you happen to come across Fredrick or possess any information regarding his whereabouts, we urge you to contact the Moore County Non-Emergency line at 910-947-2911 after regular hours. During business hours, please get in touch with Detective Vaughn at 910-944-9721. Your assistance can make a significant difference in ensuring Fredrick's safe return.

McKenzie Rd Lane Closure Today
Moore County Public Utillities will temporarily close the westbound lane of McKenzie Rd West at the junction of NC 5 Hwy and Old NC 2 Hwy on Wednesday, October 11th. The closure will be in effect from approximately 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to facilitate essential utility maintenance work. We recommend choosing an alternative route during this period. It's important to note that the eastbound lane on McKenzie Rd West will remain unaffected and open for regular traffic. Get in touch with Moore County Public Utilities at 910-947-6315 if you have questions.
Woodlake Country Club Residents Enjoying Soft Opening of Renovated Maples Course
For a 30-day period that started September 20, 2023, Woodlake Residents can experience a preview of the newly renovated Maples Course at a discounted rate. Each resident will have the opportunity to play one round during this time. Furthermore, residents are welcome to invite nonresidents as their special guests during this exclusive period.
After October 20, rates will be adjusted, and tee time booking will transition to a semi-private basis. Woodlake Country Club Members will then enjoy priority booking and tee times.
The Maples Course Renovation has gained recognition, securing a spot on GolfPass's list of "25 Notable Golf Course Renovations Set to Shine in 2023." This extensive project included clearing overgrowth and removing encroaching trees that, over the years, had obscured the natural beauty of the course.
The Woodlake Country Club's transformation, led by sisters Cara Spencer, Janene Aul, and Jacqueline Smith, began with a personal connection to the once-neglected property near Vass. Neglect and legal disputes plagued the site after Hurricane Matthew breached the dam, draining the lake.
Marines Descend on Fort Liberty for Biannual Field Artillery Drills and will be joined by the 82nd Airborne Division
The Marines are in town for their semi-annual field artillery exercises at Fort Liberty. The 10th Marines Field Artillery Regiment will be stationed at Fort Liberty, engaging in these drills through October 25.
During this period, the regiment will be honing their skills with M777 Howitzers and high mobility artillery rocket systems. These exercises may produce significant noise and reverberations due to the explosive nature of their detonations.
Notably, the 82nd Airborne Division will join the activity, contributing to the already resonant training sessions from Wednesday to October 27. The field artillery units from the 82nd Airborne Division will engage in live fire training, enhancing their combat proficiency.
To minimize disruptions for the local community, no firing exercises will occur between 10 a.m. and noon on Sundays. However, they will continue with reduced rounds during nighttime hours to ensure their readiness. Additionally, in consideration of the local community, the release also mandates that large weapons should not be fired between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily. These measures aim to balance essential military training with the needs of the surrounding area.
