North Carolina's Hot Housing Market: Moore County Cities in the Spotlight

Stacker, a news website, has put together a ranking of North Carolina cities with the most rapid increases in home prices. They've gathered data from Zillow, arranging the cities based on the dollar change in the Zillow Home Values Index for all homes over the 12 months leading up to August 2023.

Several Moore County towns showed up in the list…

#43 Pinebluff
– Typical home value: $277,385
– 1-year price change: +$17,105 (+6.6%)
– 5-year price change: +$119,631 (+75.8%)

#35 Whispering Pines
– Typical home value: $514,037
– 1-year price change: +$18,029 (+3.6%)
– 5-year price change: +$210,102 (+69.1%)

#30 Southern Pines
– Typical home value: $461,616
– 1-year price change: +$18,770 (+4.2%)
– 5-year price change: +$182,197 (+65.2%)

#20 Aberdeen
– Typical home value: $316,606
– 1-year price change: +$20,718 (+7.0%)
– 5-year price change: +$131,716 (+71.2%)

Repaving Continues in VOP

Repaving continues Wednesday and Thursday in the downtown Village of Pinehurst Village. Today’s targets are Green Rd. West and Cherokee Rd. This is a continuation of the Village of Pinehurst’s Downtown Resurfacing project. The sidewalks will remain open.

Paving at 15-501 and Morganton Rd.

NCDOT will be paving the newly widened sections of 15-501 and Morganton Rd through Friday Oct.6. This will require daytime lane closures. Expect delays if you travel through the area but it is probably best to take an alternate route.

Correction: National Emergency Alert Test is Wednesday

Our apologies. In yesterday’s issue, we had the correct date, but referenced the wrong day for the National Emergency Test. It is October 4, which is Wednesday.

This Wednesday, Oct. 4, FEMA, in coordination with the FCC, will conduct a national test of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). This test is to ensure that Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and the Emergency Alert System (EAS) remain effective for warning the public about emergencies, especially at the national level. All major U.S. wireless providers will participate and transmit the test to their subscribers. If your phone is on and within range of an active cell tower from a participating provider, you should receive the test alert once during the 30-minute transmission.
