New Motorsports Park Highlights Moore County's Economic Growth Initiatives
The Moore County Economic Development Partnership’s (MCEDP) latest Quarterly Progress Report highlights significant achievements for the quarter ending June 30. A major highlight was the recruitment of a $100 million investment from Autoport to establish the Uwharrie Motorsports Park and Resort in northwestern Moore County, marking the largest capital investment in the organization’s history.
Thus far in 2024, MCEDP responded to a record 123 business leads, resulting in 33 active projects that could bring 1,965 new jobs and $344 million in capital investment to the county. The organization also advanced preparations for the Iron Horse Industrial Park in Aberdeen, including site grading and nearing final approval for the access road design. Additionally, MCEDP identified three potential business park sites in Vass, Robbins, and Carthage, totaling nearly 190 acres, and initiated talks with property owners. However, with the recreational sector surpassing its limit, the 2024 season was canceled, marking the first time that recreational fishermen will not be allowed to fish for Southern flounder, although the commercial sector will maintain its season.
