Michael McGowan Set to Realize U.S. Open Dream in Hometown

Southern Pines native Michael McGowan is set to compete in his first U.S. Open, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Despite a challenging professional journey, McGowan hopes to revive his career and honor his family's golfing legacy. Michael’s father, Pat McGowan, enjoyed a 15-year career on the PGA Tour and was named Rookie of the Year in 1978. His grandmother, the famous Peggy Kirk Bell, was a trailblazer on the LPGA Tour, winning a major in 1940 and earning a place in the Hall of Fame. See details CBS17.com.
