Dog Owners Face Fines for Leash Violations in Southern Pines Parks

Southern Pines is enforcing stricter leash laws after a person was attacked by an unleashed dog in Reservoir Park. The town will issue citations in public spaces, with fines and possible court fees, in response to repeated violations and confrontations with dog owners about leash regulations.

Flashing Red for Safety: NCDOT's New Traffic Signal Protocol

NCDOT is updating traffic signals to flash red in all directions during malfunctions, promoting uniform safety responses at intersections. This change, to be phased in over the next year, replaces the older yellow-red flash system, simplifying the rules drivers should follow during signal outages. See details Sandhills Sentinel.
