Nightly Lane Closures This Week on Highway 15-501

Work began Monday, July 15th, on final completion tasks that will necessitate intermittent lane closures on Highway 15-501 between Memorial Drive and NC 73. These closures will occur between 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Page Road will also experience periodic lane closures between Highway 211 and Highway 15-501 during this time. Expect nightly closures through the evenings of Tuesday, July 16th, and Wednesday, July 17th. Anticipate delays, plan for additional travel time, and avoid the area if possible.

Pinehurst Traffic Circle Meetings

NCDOT is holding three public meetings this week to discuss improvements to the Pinehurst Traffic Circle, focusing on a Continuous Flow Intersection design. The meetings will take place on July 16, 18, and 23 at different locations:

  • Tuesday July 16, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Pinehurst Elementary School, 100 Dundee Road, Pinehurst

  • Thursday July 18, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Moore County Agriculture Center, 707 Pinehurst Avenue, Carthage

  • Tuesday July 23, 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Aberdeen First Baptist Church, 700 N. Sandhills Boulevard, Aberdeen

Aberdeen to Spray Herbicide Downtown on July 16th

The Town of Aberdeen will spray a mild herbicide on July 16th in downtown areas like Poplar, Main, and South Streets. The spraying will target weeds in gutters and curbs. Residents sensitive to herbicides should avoid these areas for 24 hours.

Moore County Debuts High-Tech Crosswalk to Aid Pedestrians

Moore County has installed a new "High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk" (HAWK) in Aberdeen on Sandhills Blvd. between Knight Street and West Maple Avenue. This system, designed to improve pedestrian safety, features a traffic light-like design with a unique three-light configuration. Activated when a pedestrian is about to cross, it signals drivers to stop. The project, completed last week, addresses the needs of high-traffic areas. See details WUNC.org.
