Fire Hydrant Flushing to Start in Pinehurst: What Residents Need to Know
The Village of Pinehurst Fire Department, in cooperation with Moore County Public Utilities, will conduct its annual fire hydrant testing and maintenance from September until January 2025. This program helps ensure adequate water for firefighting and identifies maintenance needs. Residents may experience temporary water discoloration and are advised to run cold water to clear it. Rockingham Speedway to Host NASCAR Events Again in April 2025
NASCAR will return to Rockingham Speedway in April 2025 after a more than decade-long absence. The NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will race at the newly renovated track, which has a rich history in the sport. The event is expected to bring economic benefits to the region, including Moore County, filling hotels, short-term rentals, and local businesses. Rockingham Speedway has been updated with state and private investments to restore it as a premier racing venue. See details HomeofGolf.com.
Buc-ee's to Open First North Carolina Location
This isn’t exactly a local Moore County story, but Buc’ee’s opening it’s first North Carolina location is a bit of a big deal.
Buc-ee's is set to build it’s first store in Mebane (Alamance County) after the city council's approval. The site is at Exit 152 on I40/85 in Alamance County. The development followed a lengthy debate, with concerns about traffic but also support for the economic boost it could bring. Initially considering Efland in Orange County, Buc-ee's shifted to Mebane due to logistical concerns. The new location is expected to draw both tourists and locals when it opens soon.
