Welcome Center Upgrades Entrance with Grant from Duke Energy Foundation
The Duke Energy Foundation provided the Moore County Chamber of Commerce with $100,000 in grants for local businesses and nonprofits. The Southern Pines Welcome Center applied for and received a $5,000 grant, which funded two new benches and self-watering planters to enhance its entrance. The installation was completed this week with the help of local town crew and a landscape architect, reflecting the community's ongoing support and collaboration.
Moore County Confirms Two New Rabies Cases
The Moore County Sheriff’s Office announced that two cases of rabies have been confirmed in Moore County within the past week, involving a raccoon and a fox found three miles apart in Southern Pines and Whispering Pines. This marks the ninth rabies case in the county this year. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and protect themselves and their pets from potentially rabid animals.
Voting Opens for NC Chamber’s “Coolest Thing Made in NC” Competition
The NC Chamber’s fifth annual “Coolest Thing Made in NC” online competition has begun, featuring a record 145 nominated products. Sponsored by Baxter International, the contest showcases North Carolina's manufacturing industry. The competition includes diverse entries, from the HondaJet Elite II to the Shibumi Shade. Voting runs until August 29, with winners announced on October 3, just before National Manufacturing Day. The contest highlights the significant economic impact of manufacturing in the state.
