Reliance Packaging Invests $7.4 Million in Aberdeen Expansion

Reliance Packaging is investing over $7.4 million to expand its operations in Aberdeen, adding jobs and enhancing sustainability. The expansion will increase manufacturing capacity, create positions with an average wage of $53,000, and reinforce the company's commitment to using recycled materials. The project is supported by a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund and various local and state partners. See details SandhillsSentinel.com.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks BJ’s Entry into Southern Pines

BJ’s Wholesale Club held a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday for its new location in Southern Pines, with plans to open in early 2025. The event also marked the start of a partnership between BJ’s and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, with the retailer committing to support the food bank through donations and funding. The new BJ’s will be located in the Morganton Park South shopping center, near other major retailers. See details SandhillsSentinel.com.

Robin Sage Training Exercise to Take Place Aug. 23 to Sept. 5

Students from Fort Liberty will participate in the final phase of their Special Forces Qualification Course during the Robin Sage training exercise, set to take place from August 23 to September 5. This exercise, conducted across many North Carolina counties including Moore County, immerses candidates in a simulated environment of political instability and armed conflict, challenging them to solve complex problems and prepare for real-world military operations.

Local residents may notice increased activity, including blank gunfire and occasional flares, but the school has implemented strict safety measures to ensure there is no risk to the public. Coordination with local law enforcement and clear identification of training areas and vehicles are in place to minimize disruptions. See details CBS17.com.
