Lobelia Community Faces Dangerous Floodwaters and Multiple Rescues

Tropical Storm Debby has resulted in rapidly rising river levels in the Lobelia area, with multiple swift water rescues occurring within the last 24 hours. These rescues involved both residents in need of evacuation and vehicles trapped in flooded areas, particularly near Morrison Bridge Road and Riverview Drive. The floodwaters, classified as swift water due to their fast-moving nature, pose a significant danger even to experienced swimmers. Emergency officials urge residents to adhere to road closures and not bypass barricades, which are in place to ensure safety.
