Village of Pinehurst Gives OK to Social Districts for Alcohol Consumption During Special Events

The Village of Pinehurst has approved the use of a Social District for special events, allowing alcohol consumption within the designated area from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The boundaries of the Social District will be the same as those used for the US Open, as indicated by the map above. Drinks must be purchased from within the district, served in labeled cups, and consumed within the district. Establishments must comply with legal requirements and specific container regulations. The current schedule for the Social District:

• U.S. Kids Golf Tournament (August 2 - 5, 2024)

• BBQ Fest/Labor Day (August 30 - September 2, 2024)

• Holly Arts (October 19, 2024)

• Oktoberfest (October 25 - 27, 2024)

Southern Pines Welcomes New Parks and Recreation Director

Southern Pines has welcomed Greg Thompson as the new Parks and Recreation director. Thompson, originally from Moore County, brings extensive experience from his previous roles in Roanoke and Raleigh. He is enthusiastic about enhancing local parks and programs. Thompson holds a degree from NC State and is a certified professional in his field. Adoption Fees Waived at Moore County Animal Shelter

The Moore County animal shelter, now at full capacity, is waiving all adoption fees for a short time to help find homes for its many available pets. The community is encouraged to adopt and spread the word. Source: Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services
