Moore County Board Warns Against Unnecessary Voter Registration Forms

The Moore County Board of Elections advises that an organization is asking residents to complete a "new" voter registration form, but this is unnecessary for those already registered. The organization is not affiliated with the county's Board of Elections. To verify voter registration status or register, visit the North Carolina State Board of Elections website or contact the Moore County Board of Elections. Fire Destroys Home in Cameron, Suspect Charged with Arson

A structure fire on Chestnut Street in Cameron early Monday led to the arrest of Ernest Junior Belk on arson charges. The unoccupied home was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Belk, 60, faces charges of second-degree arson and burning an unoccupied building. He is held on a $100,000 bond, with a court date set for July 31, 2024. See details MooreBreakingNewz.com.

Pinehurst Road Closure on McDonald Road West Moved to Tuesday

The replacement of a power pole on McDonald Road West has been rescheduled to Tuesday, July 30th. The roadway from Highway 5 to Donald Ross Drive will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., though residents will still have access. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area.

NCDOT Plans Midland Road Improvements in Southern Pines

The NCDOT plans to enhance Midland Road in Southern Pines, from Airport Road to Clark Street. Key changes include widening Midland Road, adding turn lanes, and removing some U-turns. An open house meeting will take place on July 31 to gather public input, which can also be submitted online or by phone until August 29. For more details on the project visit NCDOT.com.
