Some of the many comments collected from our Poll:
“Need to shift flow of so much traffic converging on the same area”
“Leave it ”
“the circle has been a problem for years and no matter what option is presented to Pinehurst then shoot it down. They will not listen to anything. I think the time has come to just get rid of it and start over.”
“Too many accidents to just save a stupid circle. Traffic there is ridiculous. It still can be made beautiful with island plantings and historic looking light polls which is desperately needed. ”
“At most you have to wait 5-6 minutes. Enjoy the time.”
“It only takes 5 minutes to get to the Circle from the entrance to Fairwoods on 7 Rt 15/501 in rus hour traffic. If you enter and travel around the Circle at a speed of 25 Mike's an hour your can let 1 or 2 cars in at each entry. This takes less than a minute. NCDOT says by 2050 it will take 12 minutes. The drive thru line at Starbucks or Chick-filA is longer. The CFI is ugly and it does not appear easy to maneuver for the elderly population of Pinehurst. The current Circle is a beautiful entrance to a charming Village. There is no need to make Pinehurst a metroplex.”
“Beautiful landmark. Drive responsibily. No problem then”
“I do not feel it is fair to use eminent domain to fix the issue since this discussion has been going on for 15 years. When the population started to increase Pinehurst needed to work with NCDot to solve the issue before it got to this fever pitch.”
“Divert traffic from the circle. Bypass system. ”
“Reduce the speed limit.”
