Pinehurst Traffic Circle Controversy

Moore County leadership and residents have all been discussing this issue for years. One of the newest proposals from the NCDOT is a “Shifted Pillow” intersection. Most notably, this deletes the beautiful Midland Road drive as you approach the Pinehurst Resort. We thought you would enjoy the FAQ document for the proposed Shifted Pillow for our Pinehurst Traffic Circle. View the document.

Scheduled NCDOT Public Hearings for Feedback

  • July 16, 2024 - Pinehurst - Pinehurst Elementary

  • July 18, 2024 - Carthage - Moore County Cooperative Extension (Ag Bldg.)

Cracker Barrel: New Menu Items and Design Overhaul?

Julie Felss Masino, who became Cracker Barrel's new CEO last August is planning significant changes to revitalize the brand. Our own Cracker Barrel has had mixed reviews over the past year or two. Will we see any of these changes, which are to include new menu items, adjusted pricing tiers, and remodeling? Time will tell. The goal is to make Cracker Barrel more appealing to current and new customers while maintaining its classic charm. See details CBSNews.com.

Southern Pines Police Department Requests Your Help

The Southern Pines Police Department is asking for the community's help to identify the person in the photo above. Tips can be provided anonymously at (910) 692-7031 or (910) 693-4110.

Southern Pines Road Closures:

  • The 600 block of SW Broad Street will be closed to traffic on Tuesday 6/25/24 for utilities work.

  • S. Bennett Street, between W. Wisconsin and W. Illinois avenues, will be periodically closed through the end of July. Sidewalks and storm water systems are being expanded and improved along the roadway. This is part of the Town of Southern Pines' sidewalk improvement plan.

Today’s Spotlight is on…

The Beginning

In 2019, TEAM WORKZ began its mission to uplift the community. That Christmas, TEAM WORKZ served 225 meals at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen and donated winter clothing and food to those in need. These events marked the start of a growing tradition of support. Read the full story…
