O'Neal School Names Lance Stucky as New Director of Athletics

The O'Neal School has appointed Lance Stucky as the new Director of Athletics and Transportation Services, starting July 1. Stucky, who has over 14 years of experience in military performance coaching and previous roles in collegiate strength and conditioning, is expected to bring a dynamic vision to the school's athletic programs. Insurance Commissioner Announces Arrest of Vass Woman for Fraud

April Thomas, 43, of Vass, has been arrested on charges of insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretense, both felonies. She allegedly obtained $8,660 from AFLAC through fraudulent means. The arrest, announced by North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey, highlights the ongoing efforts to combat insurance fraud in the state. See details Sandhills Sentinel.

NC DOT Gives the Public An Opportunity For Input

Would you like the opportunity to suggest major road projects for North Carolina’s Department of Transportation’s draft 10-year transportation plan for 2026-2035? NCDOT is offering that opportunity to the general public by way of a survey. Input can also be given by submitting comments by phone, email, mail, or in person.

• Submit comments by phone, email or mail using the contact information associated with each county. Reference the chart on the website for the contact information.

• Visit the NCDOT office associated with each county. Again, reference the chart on the website for the correct location for your county.

NOTE: This is not the proper place to submit maintenance requests such as patching potholes, resurfacing, or ditches. NCDOT uses a different method to prioritize maintenance projects.​ See more details.
