Proposed Urban Archery Program in Carthage to Control Deer Population

The Carthage Board of Commissioners is considering a pilot program to allow urban archery within town limits to control the deer population. Residents can provide feedback through the online survey (see link below), public hearing, or direct contact with town officials. The pilot program will operate during the 2025 urban archery season from January 11 to February 16, with specific rules and requirements to ensure safety and compliance. USGA Boosts Sustainability at Pinehurst U.S. Open

The USGA is enhancing sustainability at the U.S. Open in Pinehurst through its Reduce, Renew, and Reinvest program. Efforts include cutting single-use plastics, using renewable energy, and investing in local golf education and water conservation initiatives. PBS North Carolina will premiere It’s a Beautiful Day in Pinehurst on June 11, an hour-long special hosted by Dwayne Ballen. The program explores Pinehurst’s rich history, cultural significance, and community impact, including highlights like Payne Stewart’s 1999 U.S. Open win and a tour of the World Golf Hall of Fame with coach Roy Williams.
