Moore County Proposes Tax Cuts, Debates Water and Jurisdictional Control

On Tuesday this week, the Moore County Board of Commissioners discussed the Fiscal Year 2025 Budget, water supply strategies, and Senate Bill 166 regarding Extraterritorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) in a four-hour meeting. The budget includes a proposed property tax rate reduction to .31/$100 and significant allocations for schools, fire, and rescue services. The water supply update highlighted the imminent expiration of the Aberdeen contract and the exploration of new sources. The ETJ debate revealed mixed public sentiment and concerns about representation and regulatory control. See details Sandhills Sentinel.
