Sheriff’s Office Probes Death of Chicago Man on Carthage Property

On May 3, 2024, Moore County deputies responded to a trespassing report on Dowd Road in Carthage, NC. They found 35-year-old Ramzan Daraev, a subcontractor for Utilities One, dead from gunshot wounds. Daraev, from Chicago, had no ID but was later identified through family and a found ID. The shooter, a U.S. Army member living at the scene, is cooperating. The FBI and OSHA are involved in the investigation, which remains ongoing. Findings will be reviewed by the District Attorney to decide on potential charges. The Sheriff’s Office is committed to a thorough investigation. See details MooreBreakingNewz.com.

Moore County Enhances Public Safety with More Defibrillators

Moore County Public Safety is set to expand the availability of AEDs in government buildings. Currently, about 400 AEDs are located in schools, recreation areas, businesses, churches, and with first responders. Southern Pines and Pinehurst are Heart-Safe communities due to AED accessibility. Initiated in 2007, the Heart-Safe program ensures AED availability for early defibrillation. Moore County EMS is also involved in a seven-year study to improve cardiac arrest survival rates. Road Closures in Pinehurst for Memorial Day Weekend Event

The Village of Pinehurst has announced road closures for Memorial Day weekend to accommodate the Concours in the Village event. The following roads will be affected:

• Friday, May 24th: Dogwood Road in front of the Pine Crest Inn will be closed from 12 PM to 10 PM.

• Sunday, May 26th: Starting at 4 AM, Village Green W, Market Square, Chinquapin Road, and Cherokee Road will be closed and will reopen at 5 PM.

Residents and visitors are requested to move their vehicles from the Village area to allow full use of parking spots for the event. Unattended vehicles will be towed at no charge to the lower portion of the public parking lot near the Village Chapel.
