USGA Invests $1 Million in Carolina Golf Education Hub

The USGA, alongside Pinehurst and various industry partners, has launched a pioneering golf education hub in the Carolinas. This initiative is backed by a robust $1 million investment from the USGA and additional donors. It will func the Greenkeeper Apprenticeship Program (GAP) at Sandhills Community College for the next five years, with dedicated instructors and in-class/on-course education. There is additional programming at Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, and a hybrid learning option. This financial backing ensures tuition-free education for one year and provides paid on-the-job training for up to 200 apprentices across partner golf courses. See details USGA.org.

May Marks the Decisive Robin Sage Test for Future Green Berets

Aspiring Green Berets will undertake their final test, the Robin Sage exercise, from May 10-23 as part of the Special Forces Qualification Course. Part of the training will be held in Moore County and nearby Bladen, Cumberland, Harnett, Hoke, Lee, and Robeson counties. This announcement was made by the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. The Robin Sage Exercises are explained well in The Fayetteville Observer.
