Wednesday Morning Collision on NC Highway 22

A multi-vehicle accident occurred on NC Highway 22 near McCaskill Road around 9:00 am Wednesday morning April 10, resulting in heavy vehicle damage and one person being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Two dogs were also involved but emerged without harm. The incident caused a prolonged closure of the highway in both directions, with several emergency response teams, including Carthage and Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Moore County EMS, and the NC State Highway Patrol, attending to the situation. Late-Night Accident on Linden Road Leaves One Seriously Injured

Late Tuesday night, an accident on Linden Road near Pinehurst resulted in serious injuries for an adult male, who was transported to FirstHealth by ambulance after a pickup truck was found off the road with significant damage. The victim alleged that another driver had caused the accident and fled, though authorities have not found evidence of a second person. Southern Pines Swiftly Addresses Untreated Wastewater Spill

The Town of Southern Pines reported an environmental concern when approximately 2,400 gallons of untreated wastewater were inadvertently discharged into Mill Creek along N.C. Highway 22. The issue, occurring on Wednesday,April 10, was swiftly addressed by the Town Utilities Division, with the system being restored within two hours. Cleanup efforts were immediately undertaken to minimize environmental damage. The public has been advised to reach out to Southern Pines Public Works for more details.
