Robbins to Host the Revived Highfalls Fiddlers' Convention on Saturday
The Highfalls Fiddlers' Convention, a storied bluegrass tradition since 1921 in Robbins, NC, is set for a revival this Saturday at North Moore High School. After a pandemic-induced pause and a change in sponsorship, Miranda Smith, an NC State graduate and local resident, spearheaded the effort to resurrect this beloved event. As one of the top fiddler conventions in the Southeast and a lineup of esteemed judges, the convention is back on the map. The event will feature competitions for bands and individuals, with cash prizes. The event is open to all, and concessions will be available. See details BluegrassToday.com.

Local High School Students Prep for Firefighting Careers at SCC
Sandhills Community College has launched a unique program in collaboration with local high schools, aimed at preparing students for careers in firefighting. Under the guidance of Logan Deberry, the High School Fire Academy Coordinator, this program offers juniors and seniors comprehensive training in firefighting techniques. The course runs for one year, with a blend of in-person and virtual learning. Graduates receive credits and are eligible for financial support under The Sandhills Promise for further education. The academy is currently inviting applications for its next session, with graduations for the current group scheduled for May 30, 2024. See details Moore Breaking Newz.
