Fire at Char Bar 7 in Southern Pines

Emergency responders were dispatched to a possible structure fire at the Char Bar in Southern Pines at 5:49 pm Thursday March 21.

The first arriving fire unit reported that there had been a fire in the grill area that had been extinguished.

According to fire officials the restaurants fire suppression system activated putting out the fire, however the fire had already entered the exhaust system. Heat from this reportedly damaged seals around the exhaust vent on the roof, but firefighters ensured that the fire has not extended into the structure.

The business had been evacuated of all customers and staff when the fire department reached the scene.

Fire officials stated that the restaurant would close temporarily following this incident.

Responding were units with Southern Pines Fire & Rescue, Aberdeen Fire & Rescue, Pinehurst Fire Department, Whispering Pines Fire & Rescue, and Southern Pines Police Department.
