Moore County Tackles Growing Water Supply Concerns

At a recent Pinehurst Village Council meeting, concerns over Moore County's water supply were addressed, with discussions on infrastructure needs amid population growth. Moore County Public Works Director, Randy Gould, presented a study showing current water sources, demands, and alternative options for expanding the water supply. Pinehurst, being the largest customer, plays a crucial role in these plans. The county faces potential water shortages by 2029 due to expiring contracts and growing needs. Short-term solutions include new wells funded by federal aid, while long-term strategies involve costly projects like sourcing water from Carbonton. These initiatives will lead to an 11% increase in water rates next year, reflecting the significant financial and logistical challenges in ensuring a stable water supply for the county's future. Holman is recognized as one of the largest privately-owned dealership networks in the U.S. and provides a wide range of automotive services globally.

Aberdeen Brush Fire Leads to Arrests, Revealing Dispute-Driven Arson

Following a reported brush fire in Aberdeen on March 15, Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest of Caitlyn Moore and Myron Hash. The fire, deemed intentional after an investigation by sheriff’s investigators and the NC Forestry Service, led to the duo's arrest. Found with marijuana and paraphernalia, they face charges including felony setting fire to woodlands and conspiracy. The act was believed to be targeted, linked to a dispute with a neighbor. Both suspects were released on a written promise, with a court date set for March 21, 2024, in Moore County District Court. Source: Moore County Sheriff’s Office

Insider Insight with Wealth Advisor Nathan Cherry: Is Diversification Important?

Nathan Cherry, Wealth Advisor, Located at 510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines

The word diversification gets thrown around a lot. But is it really all that important for the average investor? I would suggest it is important, but maybe not in the way you think.

Most people think about various ETF’s and stocks when they think of diversification. They want to make sure they are spread across sectors with just the right allocation so they can get the most out of the market. That’s definitely one way to think about diversification.

Diversification also looks like this: liquid reserves (cash in the bank), invested assets (Roth, 401k, etc.), commodities (silver coins), real assets (rental property, commercial real estate), digital assets (Bitcoin or other crypto). When you add in a pension or Social Security you have a well-rounded portfolio with the ability to work in many different market environments. This kind of diversification hedges against many different market disruptions while creating both income and equity growth.

If you’ve never considered a different type of diversification, feel free to reach out and we can discuss it. [email protected] or 910-692-9014.
