Insider Insight with Wealth Advisor Nathan Cherry: Does an Economic Recession Matter For Your Portfolio?

Nathan Cherry, Wealth Advisor, Located at 510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines

The scuttlebutt is that the US may see a recession later in 2024. Being an election year it will be interesting to see if this comes to pass. However, the bigger question is: does a recession matter for your portfolio?

If your portfolio dipped by 20%, would you panic? If so, why?

If no one is managing your accounts maybe you would be a bit scared. If you don’t really trust your asset manager, maybe a 20% dip would be an issue.

But, if you are using a solid strategy for investing and you don’t need all of the money today, then there is a good chance it doesn’t matter if the market dips by 20%.

No one likes to see their portfolio go down. But consistency in the market presents buying opportunities that could make a difference over time. Missing the best days in the market in any given year can have a negative impact over time. Working with a professional to create a strategy that best suits your needs can be a win-win.

Feel free to reach out if you have questions about how the market can work for you: 910-692-9014 or [email protected]
