Saturday Lane Closure on US 1 Near Mac's Breakfast Anytime

On Saturday, March 2, 2024, the right northbound lane of US 1 near Mac's Breakfast Anytime will be closed from 9:00 a.m. for utility relocation by a contractor, expected to last 12 hours. The left lane will stay open, but drivers are urged to be cautious due to the proximity of workers to the road.

Charlie Sifford's Historic Memorabilia Finds Home Here in Pinehurst

The USGA has acquired a collection of memorabilia from golf pioneer Charlie Sifford, the first African American PGA Tour competitor and World Golf Hall of Fame inductee. This collection, encompassing over 200 pieces from Sifford's professional and personal life, includes letters, photographs, clothing, medals, awards, golf clubs, and personal items. It will primarily reside at the USGA Golf Museum and Library, with select pieces displayed in Charlie Sifford's locker at the new World Golf Hall of Fame here on the USGA's Pinehurst campus. Operation in Cameron Leads to Multiple Drug-Related Arrests

In a collaborative operation on February 28th, 2024, Moore County law enforcement arrested four individuals in Cameron for various drug-related offenses. The operation, conducted on February 28th, 2024, was a collaborative effort between the Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the Moore County Probation/Parole, targeting a residence on Samuel Medlin Lane in Cameron. The initial probation search led to the execution of a search warrant, uncovering an array of illegal substances including methamphetamine, fentanyl, buprenorphine with naloxone (Suboxone), alongside various drug paraphernalia, leading to charges against Crystal Anne Medlin, James Patrick Britt, Steven James Smith, and Timothy Gerald Barbour Jr.

Jeff Sanborn to Step Down as Pinehurst Village Manager in October

Jeff Sanborn, Village Manager of Pinehurst, will resign on October 25, 2024. Having led the Village to maintain the lowest tax rate in Moore County and win multiple excellence awards, his departure marks the end of a significant era. Sanborn's leadership has been widely acknowledged, including receiving the Leading the Way Award. Prior to his role in Pinehurst, he served 27 years in the U.S. Army. The search for his successor is underway, with the Council focusing on ensuring a smooth transition.
