Temporary Change in Southern Pines’ Tap Water Quality Starting March 1

Residents of Southern Pines might notice a slight chlorine odor or discoloration in their water starting March 1, due to the annual disinfection process at the water treatment plant, which involves switching from Chloramine to Free Chlorine. These changes are temporary, and the water will remain safe to drink. More information SouthernPines.net.

64-Year-Old Faces Serious Charges in Moore County Fraud Case

On February 8, Belinda Diane Brown was arrested on charges related to fraudulent activities involving forgery and illegal notarial acts in Moore County. Child Airlifted to Hospital Following Serious Southern Pines Collision

On Wednesday morning, Feb.28. a 5-year-old was critically injured in a crash in Southern Pines and airlifted to the UNC Trauma Center. The accident occurred at the Carlisle Street and West Wisconsin Avenue intersection, involving two heavily damaged vehicles. Alongside the child, a woman was also hospitalized with less severe injuries. The area was temporarily closed for investigation and clearance. See details WRAL.com.

Fallen Tree Disrupts Power and Closes US Highway 1 in Aberdeen

A fallen tree on a powerline in Aberdeen Wednesday morning, February 28, caused extensive power outages and led to the closure of northbound US Highway 1, affecting traffic and the operation of the local DMV office.
