Community Calls for Balanced Growth in Recent Moore County Land Use Plan Update

Moore County's recent public forum on the Land Use Plan (LUP) update, held February 15, drew significant community engagement, with residents expressing concerns over rapid development and its impacts.

Speakers at the forum, ranging from local farmers to real estate professionals, underscored the need for responsible growth that considers environmental sustainability, community values, and the economic well-being of existing residents. They called for a development approach that balances new housing and commercial projects with the preservation of the county's rural character and agricultural heritage.

The forum concluded with assurances from county officials, including Commissioner Chair Nick Picerno, that the community's feedback would be taken into consideration as the LUP undergoes revisions. See details Sandhills Sentinel.

Wealth Advisor Insider Nathan Cherry: When Did You Have Your Last “Financial Checkup?”

Located at 510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines 910-692-9014 [email protected]

It’s common to get dental checkups, auto checkups, and everyone checks in with their tax professional to make sure everything is in order. And yet, many people often neglect to get a “financial checkup.”

I hear stories often from people who tell me they have not met with their advisor in 2 or 3 years. They aren’t sure what’s in their accounts, how they are invested, whether they are on track for retirement; and most have never discussed insurance or their estate with their advisor.

It would be wise to plan to meet with your advisor at least twice each year. Once to review accounts and risk tolerance, and once for a deeper financial planning update (which should include discussions around your insurances, estate, and tax position).

Do you really want to wait until age 60 to find out you aren’t where you thought you would be? Why not schedule a meeting to review your current position and get a 2nd opinion on whether any adjustments need made?
