Prepare for Delays Today: Lane Closure on Highway 5 in Pinehurst

Highway 5 will undergo a partial lane closure for maintenance work between Morganton Road and Lake Hills Road/Monticello Drive on February 14th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Flaggers will direct traffic, and drivers should expect delays and consider alternative routes. Friends of Aberdeen Library Launches 'Legacy Bricks' Program

The Friends of Aberdeen Library nonprofit is progressing with plans to convert an historic Aberdeen building into a community center, featuring a meeting room, tech space, and library. Their 2024 fundraising campaign introduces a "legacy bricks" program, offering 1,000 bricks at the entrance and 500 along a walkway for personalization and purchase at $100 each.

This initiative invites local residents and school alumni to leave a lasting mark, commemorating loved ones or special moments, and supporting the library project. Aberdeen Robbery Leads to Swift Arrest by Moore County Deputies

One man was arrested after a reported armed robbery at an Aberdeen home on February 9, where a woman was held at gunpoint by two men demanding money. Moore County deputies swiftly investigated, leading to the arrest of Damek Tagan Locklear, 20, on charges including armed robbery and kidnapping. Locklear, held on a $250,000 bond, is due in court on March 4th. Full details cbs17.com
