Morganton Park South Update
Morganton Park South, the much-anticipated 266,000 square-foot shopping center in Southern Pines, NC, is nearing the opening of its first anchor stores. The project spans roughly 100 acres, with the initial phase covering 45 acres, including a new four-lane parkway for improved access.
The shopping center will be anchored by Target, set to open in October 2024, with other stores like Dick’s Sporting Goods, Golf Galaxy, Home Goods, and Five Below opening in late March and early April 2024. The shopping center will offer 25,000 square feet of upscale small shop spaces, introducing new restaurants and retail options, and is 98% leased with only two spaces remaining.
Additional features include a clock tower, pond, and fountain to enhance the shopping experience. The next phase involves 269 apartment units by Zimmer Development Company, while the third phase will introduce a BJ’s Wholesale Club, a coffee shop, and another restaurant on an 18-acre site. Construction on BJ’s will be starting soon. Complete details: Fayetteville Business Journal

North Carolina to Welcome Legal Sports Betting March 11
North Carolina is set to launch legal sports betting on March 11th, 2024, ahead of the U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst Resort. This move, facilitated by legislation passed in July 2021, will introduce both mobile and retail sports betting opportunities across the state. With the U.S. Open and the 2024 NCAA March Madness tournament on the horizon, North Carolina residents will have plenty of opportunities for sports betting, enhanced by promotional offers from major operators like FanDuel and DraftKings. The state will also benefit from an 8% tax on gaming revenue. Full story golfoklahoma.org.
