Pinehurst's Own Bob Farren Honored at GCSAA Sunrise Celebration
The GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) Sunrise Celebration, part of the 2024 GCSAA Conference and Trade Show, was a significant event that honored leaders and achievements within the golf industry. The event was held in Phoenix, Arizona, over the past week. Among the individuals recognized was Bob Farren, CGCS, of Pinehurst Resort and Country Club, who received the USGA Green Section Award for his 43 years of dedication to golf course management. The event also highlighted the efforts of other industry professionals, including GCSAA Class A superintendent Seth Strickland and Georgia GCSAA Executive Director Tenia Workman, and celebrated Dottie Pepper as the recipient of the GCSAA Old Tom Morris Award. The Sunrise Celebration underscored the importance of community, education, and the roles that golf course management professionals play in the industry.

North Carolina Senior Games in the Pines Begin Soon
The North Carolina Senior Games (NCSG) has been fostering a spirit of health promotion and wellness education among adults aged 50 and above since its inception in 1983. This initiative encourages thousands of North Carolinians to partake in various Local Senior Games scattered across the state each spring. Not only are there sports categories of all kinds but there are many art categories as well. Our local competition here in the Pines takes place from March 30 through May 11.
These local competitions serve as qualifiers for the much-anticipated annual Senior Games State Finals held every fall. Success in these state finals opens the door for participants to compete in the National Senior Games, a prestigious event that occurs biennially, offering a platform for seniors to showcase their athletic prowess and commitment to healthy living.
Registration kicked off yesterday, Feb.1! Local Games Information.
