The Moore County Board of Education successfully settled with the NCDOT for $415,000 over land taken for Highway 211's expansion near West End Elementary School. Wealth Advisor Insider Nathan Cherry: Is a Recession Coming in 2024?
Nathan Cherry, Private Wealth Advisor Hicks & Associates 910.692.9014 510 NW Broad St. Southern Pines | Now that 2024 is here, are previous predictions of a recession still valid? Generally speaking, markets lean towards the upside in presidential election years. But many analysts are unsure if this trend will continue in 2024 considering the unique variables currently impacting markets. Factors such as lingering high prices, high interest rates, a sluggish housing market, deficits, debt, and ongoing defense spending could lead to a FED misstep that results in a recession. Whether it happens or not remains to be seen, |
but you can be better prepared for any economic turbulence by considering a few simple strategies:
Avoid taking on new debt if at all possible.
Make only minimum payments on existing debts.
Save excess cash to your bank account for emergencies.
Keep household basics (like toilet paper) stocked up to avoid shortages.
Follow a basic budget each month to avoid overspending.
Recessions can cause significant harm to household finances. But it doesn’t have to. Keeping a few principles in place and maintaining a long-term outlook can help.
