High-Speed Chase Leads to Multi-Vehicle Crash in Aberdeen

On Saturday January 13, a police chase in Pinebluff escalated into a multi-vehicle accident in Aberdeen at the intersection of Hwy 1 and Hwy 15-501. The incident involved a fleeing sedan, a Nissan Altima, and a Genesis sedan. The crash resulted in two hospitalizations and an ongoing manhunt for the driver of the sedan who fled the scene and is still at large. See the full story Sandhills Sentinel.

Upcoming Closures of West Morganton Road for Stormwater Project

West Morganton Road in the vicinity of S. Henley Street and Brucewood Road is scheduled for a temporary overnight closure on Monday, January 15th, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day. This disruption is due to necessary stormwater mitigation efforts and modifications to the center median.

During this period, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NC DOT) will establish detours, which will guide traffic towards 15/501 or U.S. 1 south. Motorists planning to travel through this area are advised to allocate additional time for their journey.

Additional partial closures are anticipated on the upcoming Saturdays of January 20th and 27th. On these dates, the center lane in each direction of West Morganton Road will be sealed off to facilitate the completion of the ongoing work. See map and full story Sandhills Sentine

Moore County Pursuit Ends in Arrest of Felon with Meth, Oxycodone, and Firearm

On Thursday January 11, Derek Deleon Taylor was arrested after a vehicle chase by the Moore County Sheriff’s Office. He faces numerous charges including possession of controlled substances and weapons violations. The incident ended in Lee County. Taylor, found with drugs and a firearm, had existing warrants. He is now held on a $275,003.00 bond, with a court appearance set for February 8th, 2024. Source: Moore County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page.

Just a reminder that residents of the Village of Pinehurst can have their Christmas Trees picked up by placing them on the curb on Wednesday mornings through January 31.
