Moore County Dominates Golfweek's Best 2024 with Nine Top Courses

Golfweek's Best 2024 has released its prestigious list of top golf courses in the United States, showcasing the finest greens in the country. This list, curated by a dedicated panel of course raters, prioritizes golf course quality based on a set of 10 criteria, culminating in a cumulative rating that determines each course's rank. Focusing solely on the courses rather than resort amenities, this year's rankings highlight Moore County's exceptional golfing landscape.

Moore County boasts a remarkable presence on the list, with nine of its courses featuring in the top 200. Leading the pack is Pinehurst Course No. 2, securing the 3rd spot, followed by Pinehurst Course No. 4 at 31st and Mid Pines at 38th. Pine Needles ranks 50th, with Pinehurst Course No. 8 at 84th. Southern Pines Golf Club and Talamore make impressive appearances at 109th and 161st, respectively. Rounding off the county's representation are Pinehurst Courses No. 7 and No. 9 at 173rd and 174th. Adding to the region's golfing acclaim, Tobacco Road in nearby Sanford achieves the 62nd position, highlighting the area's rich golfing heritage and exceptional course designs. Sheriff Fields Alerts to 'Social Security' Scam

Sheriff Ronnie Fields of Moore County is issuing an important warning to the public about a recent scam targeting citizens. Reports have emerged of residents receiving a misleading "Future of Social Security" ballot, purportedly from an organization named "The Seniors Center." These ballots, which are dispatched by an unidentified third party, deceptively solicit donations ostensibly for social security purposes. Sheriff Fields emphasizes that this operation is a scam.

The Sheriff's guidance is clear: do not complete or return the ballot, refrain from sending any donations, and most importantly, do not provide any personal information. Source: Moore County Sheriff’s Office
