Head-On Collision in Southern Pines Leads to Non-Critical Injuries

A two-car collision on Indiana Avenue in Southern Pines on New Year’s Day resulted in both drivers being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash, occurring near the Hyland Road intersection, involved a Subaru and an Audi. Authorities have dismissed impairment as a factor. The incident prompted an investigation by the Southern Pines Police and necessitated the temporary closure of the avenue. Full story with photo - Sandhills Sentinel.

New Year’s Eve Blaze Strikes Pine Valley Home

A major fire broke out in a home within the Pine Valley Community on, located in the West End Fire and Rescue district near Highway 211 on New Year’s Eve. Visible flames were reported by the first responders. A coordinated effort from multiple departments, including fire, rescue, public safety, and the sheriff's office from the surrounding areas, was mobilized to tackle the blaze. 82nd Airborne Division Soldiers Mobilized for Quick Deployment to Middle East, Asia

Soldiers from the 504th Infantry Regiment were deployed to areas in the Middle East and Asia at the end of 2019 due to increased safety concerns for Americans in those regions. They are part of a quick-action military team that can be sent out within 18 hours under orders from the U.S. government. This team is part of the 82nd Airborne Division and operates under the control of CENTCOM, which handles U.S. military activities in these areas.

Aberdeen Police Chief Officially Retires

Chief Colasacco has retired after a remarkable 31.5 years of service in Aberdeen. His long tenure, marked by dedication to the community and its citizens, is highly commendable. Congratulations and best wishes are extended to him as he embarks on new endeavors post-retirement.
