New Police Chief Brian Chavis
Aberdeen Announces Brian Chavis as New Leader of Police Force
Brian Chavis has been appointed as the new Police Chief of Aberdeen, succeeding the retiring Carl Colasacco. Born in Vass, NC, Chavis is a seasoned law enforcement professional with a career that began in 2008. His academic and training credentials are extensive, including graduating from the Sandhills Community College law enforcement program and several FBI leadership courses. Chavis, who was serving as Deputy Chief, is committed to leading a team focused on public service, excellence, and community engagement.
Pinehurst Surgical Clinic Plans Sale or Lease of Its Major Facility
Pinehurst Surgical Clinic is considering the sale or lease of its large multi-specialty facility located next to FirstHealth Moore Hospital in Pinehurst. The clinic, encompassing 120,000 square feet, is owned by Pinehurst Surgical but sits on land leased from the hospital. Source: The Pilot Newspaper Facebook Page
Moore County Invites Public Input on Land Use Plan Update
The Moore County Board of Commissioners is holding a public forum on January 18, 2024, at Pinecrest High School, to discuss updates to the Moore County Land Use Plan. Citizens are encouraged to contribute their views on preserving the county's heritage, enhancing living environments, optimizing land use, and varied housing needs. The meeting starts at 5:30pm. Doors open at 5pm.

Town of Aberdeen:
Administrative Offices will be closed Monday, Dec 25 - Wednesday, Dec 27 in observance of Christmas.
No garbage collection on the days the Town offices are closed. The makeup schedule for each day will be:
Dec 25 garbage will be picked up on Wednesday, January 3.
Dec 26 garbage will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day.
Dec 27 garbage will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day.Town offices will be closed January 1.
No garbage pickup on Monday January 1. Makeup date will be Wednesday January 3.
Vass
No garbage pickup Dec. 25. Garbage will be picked up Tues Dec. 26.
Carthage
Town offices are closed Dec.25-27.
Southern Pines Public Library
Closed Dec 23-26 and Dec 31-Jan 1
Moore County Sheriff’s Office Animal Services

Village of Pinehurst:
Garbage collection services will be delayed by one day during Christmas week
The Village of Pinehurst Offices: Closed Mon., Dec. 25, through Wed. Dec. 27 Will reopen Thursday, Dec. 28, at 8:30 a.m.
Cannon Park Community Center: Closed Mon., Dec. 25, through Wed. Dec. 27
Given Memorial Library and Tufts Archives: Closed Mon., Dec. 25, through Wed. Dec. 27
Village Hall: Closed Mon., Dec. 25, through Wed. Dec. 27
Village Parks: Regular operating schedule
Curbside Christmas tree collection will be each Wednesday from Jan. 3 to 31. Place undecorated trees curbside no later than 7 a.m. on Wednesdays.
