Sheetz New Store Opening in Carthage
On December 29, Sheetz will celebrate the grand opening of its new store in Carthage with events and giveaways from 9:00-11:00am. The new location is at 1025 Monroe St. Customers can receive a free Sheetz branded bag and participate in a drawing to win a 'Sheetz for a Year' Z-Card, valued at $2,500, along with three additional $250 Z-Card giveaways throughout the morning. The grand opening will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:00am. Attendees must be 18 or older to participate in the giveaways and must be present to win. Sheetz also highlights job opportunities via their Twitter account @SheetzJobs.
Two Seats Open on Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board
Effective January 1, 2024, there will be two available positions on the Downtown Aberdeen Advisory Board (DAAB). Eligibility for these positions is extended to stakeholders in the area, defined as:
Anyone owning property in the Central Business District, representatives of businesses situated in the Central Business District, or permanent residents of the Central Business District are considered "Downtown Stakeholders."
Individuals who are interested and meet these qualifications are encouraged to contact the Downtown Planner at [email protected] for further details.
Applications Open for Planning Board Position for the Town of Carthage
The Town of Carthage Board of Commissioners is currently welcoming applications for a vacant seat on the Carthage Planning Board, with the term concluding on June 30, 2025.
Interested individuals who wish to apply and undergo an interview with the Board of Commissioners for this role should fill out the Volunteer Form and submit it to the Town Clerk.
The Town of Carthage Calls for Community Feedback on Downtown Development Plans
The Town of Carthage is actively seeking public input for the future development of its Downtown area. Led by Town Planner Jennifer Hunt and consultants from Kimley-Horn and Koontz Jones Design, the initiative focuses on revitalizing Downtown and improving accessibility. The town has launched two surveys on its website (www.townofcarthage.org) open to anyone who works, visits, or uses Downtown Carthage. Public participation in these surveys and future meetings is encouraged to guide the town's development in a way that benefits all community members.

Administrative Offices will be closed Monday, Dec 25 - Wednesday, Dec 27 in observance of Christmas.
No garbage collection on the days the Town offices are closed. The makeup schedule for each day will be:
Dec 25 garbage will be picked up on Wednesday, January 3.
Dec 26 garbage will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day.
Dec 27 garbage will be picked up on the next regularly scheduled day.
Vass
No garbage pickup Dec. 25. Garbage will be picked up Tues Dec. 26.
