Unsealed Warrants Reveal New Leads in Moore County Substation Attacks

The unsealing of arrest warrants has shed new light on the December 2022 attacks on Duke Energy substations in Moore County. The investigation, conducted by the Moore County Sheriff's Office with FBI assistance, revealed several critical details previously undisclosed.

Key among the findings is the focus on a local couple, particularly the husband, a former U.S. Army Ranger with a background in the power management industry. His connections to local groups such as the Moore County Patriots and Moore County Citizens for Freedom, coupled with his industry knowledge, marked him as a person of interest. Investigators sought warrants to examine the phone records linked to the couple, uncovering potential leads and associations related to the attacks.

The husband, in his statements to law enforcement, denied any involvement or direct knowledge of the substation attacks. However, his admission of being in communication with people connected to these groups, along with his presence and actions around the time of the attacks, added to the intrigue surrounding his potential involvement.

Further deepening the investigation, law enforcement officials pursued leads on a Honda Odyssey van and a light-colored truck seen in the vicinity of the substations. These vehicles were identified through surveillance footage and are considered significant in piecing together the events of the attack.

As the investigation continues, the Moore County Sheriff's Office has emphasized its commitment to thoroughly examining all leads. While the couple remains persons of interest, no definitive conclusions have been reached, and the investigation remains open. See full details on Newsbreak.
