Christmas Gift Theft in Moore County Leads to Felony Arrest

A burglary in Moore County's Woodlake community resulted in the arrest of 23-year-old Aaron Shayne Oxendine on December 7. He faces multiple felony charges including breaking and entering, larceny, possession of stolen goods, and drug possession. Oxendine is currently held on a $75,000 bond, awaiting a court appearance in January 2024. Source: Moore County Sheriff’s Office

New Jersey Mike’s Subs Location in Carthage Opens with Charity Event for Boys & Girls Club

Jersey Mike’s Subs is opening a new store at 444 Mill Creek Road in Carthage (near Whispering Pines) on December 13. The grand opening will include a fundraiser from December 13-17 for the Boys & Girls Club of the Sandhills. Customers with special coupons can donate $3 to receive a regular sub, with proceeds aiding the local youth organization.

Pinecrest High School April Stabbing: Suspect to Appear in Court on Monday

Christopher Tarter, 18, was transferred to the Moore County Jail on Dec. 7 and appeared in court Monday Dec.11 for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Avery Slatcher, at Pinecrest High School. The incident occurred on April 28 in the school's parking lot, leading to serious injuries for Slatcher. Tarter faces charges of attempted murder and weapon possession on school grounds. The school was put on lockdown following the event, and Slatcher was hospitalized with critical injuries. See full update on WRAL.com.
