What is HB813?

What is HB813? On Friday, Governor Roy Cooper enacted new legislation that introduces more stringent bail regulations, responding to concerns raised by law enforcement agencies statewide regarding low bonds for specific violent crimes. House Bill 813, titled the Pretrial Integrity Act, removes the duty of magistrates to determine bail for certain offenses, marking a significant shift in pretrial procedures.
