MCEDP Acquires Land for First Public Industrial Park in Moore County

The Moore County Economic Development Partnership (MCEDP) has acquired a 73-acre parcel for the Iron Horse Industrial Park in Aberdeen, marking the first publicly controlled industrial site in Moore County. This development, celebrated by MCEDP President Natalie Hawkins, was supported by nearly $2 million in funding, including a significant state-directed grant and loans from Moore County and Aberdeen. MCEDP plans rapid development of the site, with site clearing and road construction starting early next year, in line with its mission to boost the local economy and job creation. VOP and Southern Pines Need Councilmembers

The Village of Pinehurst is opening applications for a new councilmember to fill the vacancy created by Patrick Pizzella's election as Mayor. The new councilmember, to be appointed by the Village Council through a majority vote, will serve until early December 2025. Interested residents can apply by contacting Village Clerk Shannon Konstantinou, with the application deadline set for December 11 at 5 p.m.

The Town of Southern Pines invites applications for a vacant council seat, to be filled for the remaining two years of Taylor Clement’s term until the 2025 election. Mayor-elect Clement highlighted the role's significance in community contribution. The deadline for applications is December 15, with the Town Council overseeing the selection process. The Council, a non-partisan body, is responsible for important town decisions and meets monthly in public sessions. More information.

Driver Airlifted Following Major Accident off Carthage Rd

According to the Seven Lakes Fire & Rescue, a two-vehicle accident occurred early this morning off Carthage Rd near Thomas Place, involving an overturned pickup truck and a sedan. Both drivers, who were alone in their vehicles, had freed themselves by the time emergency crews arrived. The sedan's driver was airlifted to a trauma center by MedCenter Air, while the pickup's driver declined transport after an on-scene evaluation. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, with the MCSO assisting in traffic control.
