Aberdeen Police Boost Road Safety Measures for Thanksgiving

As we embrace the festive spirit of Thanksgiving, the Aberdeen Police Department is stepping up its efforts to ensure road safety. With a significant increase in road users expected across North Carolina, the department is committed to making sure everyone can enjoy a safe and happy holiday with their families.

Aberdeen's police force is enhancing its patrol presence on the roads. Their goal is clear: to prevent dangerous driving behaviors and strive for zero fatalities by maintaining strict enforcement.

Vass Man Arrested for Multiple Arson Charges

Kennith Terry, of Vass, was arrested by the Moore County Sheriff's Office on Nov. 21 for allegedly setting a building and a vehicle on fire on Nov. 18. He faces multiple charges, including felony burning of buildings, breaking or entering, setting fire to woodlands, and burning personal property. Terry is currently held without bond in the Moore County Detention Center and was due in court Wednesday Nov. 22. The arrest followed an investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Moore County Fire Marshal's Office, which determined the fire was deliberately set. See full story.

Small Business Saturday Nov.25th: A Celebration of Local Gems

Mark your calendars for November 25th, because it's not just any ordinary Saturday – it's Small Business Saturday! This day is our perfect opportunity to support the local businesses that make our community unique and vibrant. Nestled between the hustle of Black Friday and the buzz of Cyber Monday, it's a special time to celebrate the local shops and services that add a personal touch to our daily lives.

These small businesses are more than just stores; they're the dreams and passions of our neighbors and friends brought to life. From the cozy café that knows your order by heart to the local bookstore with the perfect recommendation, they make every experience special. By choosing to shop local, we're not just buying products; we're supporting dreams and strengthening our community bonds.

New Hotel Construction Begins at Fort Liberty

Fort Liberty marked the start of the Candlewood Suites hotel construction on November 14, a project set to complete in early 2026. This 207-room hotel will cater specifically to military travelers. The hotel, located on the former Hardy Hall site, will feature amenities tailored to its guests, including kitchen-equipped suites and various facilities. Further lodging enhancements at Fort Liberty are also planned, continuing to improve the living standards for service members and their families. See full story.
