Firefighters Quickly Contain Dawn Wildfire in West End

According to Seven Lakes Fire and Rescue, a 2.5-acre woods fire broke out before dawn on Tuesday November 21 near Dowd Road in West End. Local fire units responded quickly, working with the state Forestry Service to contain the blaze by plowing a fire line around it before it could spread in the dry conditions. Thanks to the rapid, collaborative response, the fire was allowed to safely burn itself out within the containment area.

Another Moore County Lottery Winner: Great-Grandmother wins $250,000!

Rosa Yearby, a resident of West End, won $250,000 from a 20X The Cash scratch-off ticket. She bought the ticket at Nic’s Pic Kwik in Pinebluff and later confirmed her win at the same store. Overwhelmed with excitement, Yearby, a great-grandmother of 13, collected her prize in Raleigh, receiving $178,126 after taxes. She plans to use the winnings for paying bills and renovating her home. Pinehurst Turns Small Business Saturday into Small Busines Week!

From VOP Communications: The Village of Pinehurst is set to observe Small Business Saturday on November 25, 2023. But wait! There’s more!

This event is not just a single day affair but part of a week-long emphasis on shopping locally, from Monday, November 20, through Saturday, November 25. The Village of Pinehurst is encouraging residents and visitors to patronize small businesses throughout the area, including various shops, restaurants, and service providers located in the Village Center and around key areas such as Hwy 5, Midland Road, Linden Road, and the Village Place area.

To add an element of excitement, shoppers who make purchases at any Pinehurst business during this period are eligible to enter a special drawing. Bring your purchase receipts to the Welcome Center at 90 Cherokee Road, to participate in a drawing to win a gift basket. This basket is thoughtfully filled with items from the local businesses, showcasing the diversity and quality of products available in Pinehurst. Each receipt from a Pinehurst business, including those obtained at the Welcome Center, counts as an entry into the drawing, which will be held after 4:00pm on Small Business Saturday. Participants are not required to be present during the draw to win.
