The 27th Annual Sandhills Children's Center Festival of Trees

Pinehurst, NC - The Carolina Hotel in Pinehurst is set to transform into a magical winter wonderland for the 27th Annual Sandhills Children's Center Festival of Trees. From November 15th to 18th, 2023, the festival promises a dazzling display of holiday spirit, all for a noble cause.

A Spectacle of Holiday Cheer
The Festival of Trees is not just an ordinary holiday event. It's a vibrant celebration filled with beautifully decorated Christmas trees, charming teardrop swags, festive wreaths, and picturesque mailbox garlands. Each piece, a work of art, is lovingly crafted by dedicated designers and donors who join forces to bring joy and festivity to the community.

Silent Auction: A Bid for Goodness
One of the highlights of the festival is the Silent Auction. Here, attendees can bid on an array of handcrafted holiday decorations and exciting travel experiences. Each bid not only brings the magic of the holidays closer to home but also supports the children at Sandhills Children's Center.

The Thrill of the Raffle
Adding to the excitement, the festival features a raffle with a grand prize of $1000 in Amazon gift cards. The drawing, set for November 18th at 9 PM, adds an element of suspense and fun to the festivities.

Angel Tree: Gifts That Matter
The Angel Tree initiative allows attendees to shop for items chosen by teachers, directly benefiting the classrooms at Sandhills Children's Center. This thoughtful gesture ensures that the festival's impact extends beyond the event, directly into the lives of children in need.

Volunteers: The Heart of the Festival
The success of the Festival of Trees hinges on the dedication of volunteers. These community members play a crucial role in bringing the event to life, demonstrating the power of collective effort and community spirit.

A Community United for a Cause
The Festival of Trees is more than just a celebration; it's a testament to the community's commitment to supporting children with special developmental needs. As the Carolina Hotel decks its halls with boughs of holly, it also opens its doors to a tradition of giving, joy, and community spirit.

Join in the festivities and be a part of this enchanting holiday tradition that lights up not just the trees but also the lives of many children and families.

The merged brand will feature SodStar Transportation for logistics, SodStarPRO catering to turfgrass professionals, and a new direct-to-consumer division under SodStar. Moore County Commissioners Approve Enhanced School Funding Formula for Fiscal Year 2024

The Moore County Board of Commissioners approved a new funding formula for Moore County Schools, increasing the budget by $1,701,623 for the fiscal year 2024. This formula, based on 38.5% of budgeted property and sales tax, covers various operational and educational expenses but excludes debt service and Article 46 sales tax. Initially proposed in 2016, this revised formula aims to prioritize education funding and manage costs effectively, addressing challenges like inflation and state-mandated pay raises. The resolution provides schools with a clear understanding of their annual funding, reducing the need for additional county debt and supporting teacher recruitment and retention. The decision was unanimously passed by the commissioners. For complete details see the full article in the Sandhills Sentinel.
