Union Pines High School Coach Jason Trousdale Resigns

Union Pines High School's football coach, Jason Trousdale, has officially resigned from his position. The team finished the 2023 season with a 2-8 record, missing the playoffs but with a notable overtime victory over Lee County. During Trousdale’s tenure, the team's overall record was 7-23. Union Pines is part of the Sandhills 3A/4A Conference.

Bicyclist and Vehicle Collide

Tuesday morning, a bicyclist collided with a vehicle in the area of 15/501 and the Commerce/Pinehurst Avenue Intersection.

Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle

Tuesday evening, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle near the Taco Bell area of 15/501 in Aberdeen. The Fire Department, Police and EMS responded. The pedestrian is reported to have been injured but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Two Robeson County Deputies and Suspect Injured in Shooting Incident

This isn’t a Moore County incident, but it’s very close to home. Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins has confirmed that two of his deputies were shot in the vicinity of Old Red Springs Road, just outside Maxton. Both deputies are currently receiving treatment for multiple gunshot wounds at undisclosed medical facilities. A suspect involved in the incident has also sustained gunshot injuries and is being treated at an undisclosed location.

In response to this critical situation, authorities have sought assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Additionally, numerous law enforcement agencies from both within the county and the state have been mobilized to respond to the incident.
