  • U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport card

  • College or university student ID approved by the State Board of Elections

  • State or local government or charter school employee ID approved by the State Board of Elections

These requirements ensure that voters have valid photo ID when participating in the upcoming elections in North Carolina.

Town of Aberdeen Administrative Offices Closed Friday Nov.10

Field of Honor Ceremony in West End

On Sunday, November 5th, the Vietnam Veterans of America, Moore County Chapter 966, hosted their annual Field of Honor Ceremony at the West End Fire House. This heartfelt event featured a striking display of 500 flags, which will be exhibited from November 5th through November 12th, dedicated to honoring veterans.

Each flag proudly bears the name of a veteran, active-duty service member, or courageous combat dog, serving as a poignant tribute to their service and sacrifice. The Honor Guard from UPHS NROTC (University of Pennsylvania Health System Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps) was present to pay respects.

During the moving ceremony, the names inscribed on the flags were read aloud, ensuring that every veteran was recognized and remembered. As a solemn tribute to the departed veterans, a ship's bell tolled with reverence as their names were called. This event serves as a touching reminder of the enduring gratitude and respect held for those who have served their country.

Moore County Economic Development Partnership Quarterly Progress Summary

The Moore County Economic Development Partnership (MCEDP) released its Quarterly Progress Report for Q3 2023. They noted a surge in business leads, with 45 already in the first three months of the fiscal year, potentially bringing 1,350 jobs and $480 million in investments. MCEDP also supports local businesses and worked with eight of them this quarter.

MCEDP also made progress in developing the Iron Horse Industrial Park in Aberdeen, including executing an Offer to Purchase contract and securing the right-of-way agreement for an industrial road, although some steps are still pending, such as permits for crossing a gas line and railroad tracks.

Notable initiatives this quarter include the allocation of $25 million in the North Carolina state budget for establishing an "Early College" high school at Sandhills Community College and MCEDP's participation in the Rural Community Capacity (RC2) Resource Team's visit to the Town of Vass, where they assessed community needs.
