Instant Teams: The Triumph of Remote Work and Military Spouse Empowerment

Congratulations to Instant Teams for their recognition by the 2023 Outsourcing Impact Awards, recognized with the Bronze Award for Community Building and the coveted Gold Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Born out of a pressing need to address the employment challenges faced by military spouses, Instant Teams has been pioneering change since 2016. Its core mission: to transform the career trajectories of military spouses, a group historically hindered by frequent relocations and career interruptions due to their partners' deployments.

Liza Rodewald and Erica McMannes, both army spouses themselves, co-founded Instant Teams. Their insight into the unique struggles of military spouses spurred them to tap into this reservoir of untapped potential. Their innovative model connects this community with remote work opportunities, aligning corporate needs with societal impact.

But the achievements of Instant Teams extend beyond mere numbers. From starting as a two-person venture in 2016, it has swelled to over 500 employees by 2023. Their impressive three-year growth of 2,572% earned them spot 208 on the Inc. 5000 list. Furthermore, they've infused approximately 40 million dollars into the military community, reflecting their profound economic impact.

Beyond these statistics, the environmental consciousness of Instant Teams is noteworthy. By advocating for remote work, they not only support military spouses but also significantly reduce the environmental impact, reinforcing their commitment to sustainability.

Above all, Instant Teams' enduring success resides in its individual stories. The countless military spouses who, through this platform, have found meaningful employment, have overcome geographic constraints, and have rewritten their career narratives.

Seven Lakes West Breathes Easier: Arrests Made in Car Break-In Cases

The Moore County Sheriff’s Department, under the leadership of Sheriff Ronnie Fields, successfully cracked down on a series of car break-ins that had been plaguing the Seven Lakes West community since mid-August. After dedicated surveillance and multiple search warrants in West End and Eagle Springs, several stolen items related to the incidents were retrieved. Two men from Eagle Springs, Corey Campbell and Javan Overton, have been arrested and are facing various charges, including felonies. They are currently detained at the Moore County Detention Center, with court appearances scheduled for mid-November. The Sheriff's office continues to seek public assistance in the matter.

Collision on Sand Pit Road Delays Traffic; One Hospitalized, Another Cited for Infraction

Tuesday Oct. 31: A two-car collision involving a Toyota Highlander and a Chevy pickup truck occurred on Sand Pit Road near Highway 5 in Aberdeen, leading to traffic delays. The crash happened when the Toyota crossed the centerline, hitting the Chevy. Both male drivers were trapped but were later freed by Aberdeen firefighters. The Chevy's driver was hospitalized with non-severe injuries, while the Toyota's driver, unharmed, was cited for crossing the centerline. The road remained closed for about 45 minutes for investigation and clearance.

Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway Celebrates Key Partnership with Charlotte Pipe in Oakboro, NC

Oakboro, NC, welcomes a new milestone as the Aberdeen Carolina and Western Railway (ACWR) announces the grand opening of the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. With a $460 million investment, this plant, one of the leading producers of plumbing materials, spans 700 acres and promises over 500 job opportunities for the community of Oakboro. This development also signifies a strengthened partnership between ACWR and Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, both family-owned businesses. ACWR in Candor, renowned as the largest privately-owned shortline railroad in North Carolina, sees a bright future with the inclusion of scrap steel recycling in its portfolio and potential vendor growth for Charlotte Pipe.

Blarney Stoneworks: A Tale of Two Families and Some Fabulous Granite

Nestled in Aberdeen, North Carolina at 101 Jordan Place, there's a place where craftsmanship and community intertwine. That place is Blarney Stoneworks. Founded in 2003 by Pat and Cathy Walsh, this family-run gem has since been passed down to the equally passionate couple, Jeff and Michelle Rudisill.

Imagine seeking some cosmic guidance, and suddenly, the universe nudges you with an unexpected proposition: "How about taking over a granite business?" For most, the natural response might be a bemused, "Granite? Really?" And that's precisely how the Rudisills initially reacted. A surprised, "Have you lost your marbles?!" was thrown into the cosmos.

But fate, with its whimsical ways, made sure they took the mantle, continuing the legacy of Blarney Stoneworks.

Owners Jeff and Michelle Rudisill

It's not just stones and sparkles here. The heart of Blarney lies in its dedication. With the Rudisills at the helm, it's a no-middleman, no-subcontractor affair. The undiluted Blarney touch graces every project, whether petite or grand. Their Rock Solid Service isn't just a slogan; it's a promise!

But there’s more! Jeff and Michelle, much like Pat and Cathy before them, are all about uplifting their community. Their generosity radiates far beyond the stonework, supporting spirited local teams and championing causes like the Duskin & Stephens Foundation, Dream 4 All Foundation and Forte Fitness Dance*Fit For the Cure.

So, if you happen to wander into Blarney Stoneworks, know that you're not just stepping on polished stone floors but also walking through a rich legacy of two families dedicated to craftsmanship and community.
