Total of 10 Have Now Been Arrested and Charged in Connection with the Oct. 8 Home Invasion in Aberdeen
In the latest developments, two more suspects were arrested on Thursday of last week, as part of the ongoing investigation into the home invasion and murder of Tynasha Collins of Aberdeen. Alongside these arrests, a significant quantity of drugs was seized, including over 15 pounds of marijuana, 241 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 144 grams of oxycodone, 125 grams of cocaine, and 38 grams of THC, all found at a residence. Furthermore, authorities confiscated multiple firearms during the operation.
Cynthia Gay Ross, aged 59, has been charged with felony conspiracy and felony maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. She is currently in custody at the Moore County Detention Center, held under a $95,000 secured bond, and is slated to appear in court on October 25.
Christopher Kant Verbal, aged 26, is facing a total of 16 felonies and two misdemeanors, including charges of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance, trafficking opium or heroin, and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances. He is being held at the Moore County Detention Center under a $500,000 secured bond and is set to appear in court on October 26.
On Thursday, investigators executed a search warrant in Southern Pines, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. This juvenile is facing one count of murder.
To recap previous arrests in connection with this home invasion, on October 11, six individuals faced charges following the execution of search warrants at three residences in Moore and Richmond counties. The charges include:
1. Trevell Semaj Wade, 22, from Hamlet, charged with murder; held without bond at Moore County Detention Center.
2. Noah Edward Harrington, 18, from Aberdeen, charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder; being detained at Moore County Detention Center with a $225,000 secured bond.
3. Jaidon Rafael Lachin Stockey, 21, arrested for one count of accessory after the fact to murder; being held in Moore County Detention Center under a $225,000 secured bond.
4. Shakeanma Takelia Hubbard, 37, from Aberdeen, charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder; committed to Moore County Detention Center under a $225,000 secured bond.
5. A 15-year-old juvenile was taken into custody by the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice for one count of accessory after the fact to murder.
6. Dajwan Quintaj Monroe, 21, charged with murder; Given no bond, with a court date pending his release from the hospital.
The investigation continues, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Moore County Sheriff's Office.
NCWRC's $10 Million Training Facility to Boost Law Enforcement Capabilities
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is embarking on the construction of a $10 million, state-of-the-art law enforcement training facility, solidifying its presence at the DPS Samarcand Training Academy. This modern facility will enhance officer training and accommodate 16 new officers, marking the first staff increase in 46 years. It addresses the needs of a growing population and increasing vessel registrations, ensuring better conservation and public safety. The completion is anticipated by August 2024, with applications for the Wildlife Law Enforcement Basic Academy available in May 2024.

In a joint effort to enhance community safety, the Robbins Fire Department and the Northern Moore Rotary Club are giving away free smoke detectors to residents within the Robbins fire district. This event, scheduled for Monday, October 15, starting at 4:00 PM at the Robbins Fire Department, aims to address the alarming statistic that three out of every five home fire deaths occur in homes lacking functional smoke detectors.
