Murder Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting Near Aberdeen

The Moore County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating a tragic incident involving the murder of a woman at a residence near Aberdeen, off Sand Pit Road. Responding to reports of a shooting in the Sherwood Park subdivision on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 8. Authorities found the victim, who succumbed to gunshot wounds despite paramedics' efforts. The perpetrator(s) fled the scene, triggering a substantial law enforcement presence. A vehicle matching the description provided in connection with the shooting was located, leading to the questioning of a person of interest, though specific details remain undisclosed during the ongoing investigation.

Robbins Receives Generous Funding for Reservoir Dredging and Theater Renovations

In a significant boost for the community of Robbins, North Carolina, the town has secured a total of $748,000 in funding, with $548,000 allocated for the much-needed dredging of their Reservoir and an additional $200,000 earmarked for the revitalization of the Robbins Village Theater. These substantial funds have been made available through the North Carolina General Assembly and are set to breathe new life into crucial local projects.

The success of securing this funding can be attributed to the dedicated advocacy efforts of Senator Tom McInnis and Representative Neal Jackson.

The dredging of the Reservoir promises to enhance water quality, recreational opportunities, and overall environmental sustainability for the town. Meanwhile, the injection of $200,000 into the Robbins Village Theater's renovation project will undoubtedly help restore a cherished cultural institution, and boost the arts and entertainment scene for the entire community.

Intersection Collision Injures Two Near Eastwood Community

A collision at the intersection of Doubs-Chapel Road and Murdocksville Road on Friday afternoon, Oct. 6 near the Eastwood community left two individuals injured. The incident involved a Dodge pickup truck and a Ford pickup truck, with both the female driver of the Ford and a female passenger in the Dodge taken to Moore Regional Hospital for minor injuries. The male driver of the Dodge was evaluated at the scene and released. Traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane as authorities investigated the cause of the collision.

Mother and Child Survive Terrifying Car Accident in Southern Pines

On Sunday, Oct. 8, a young woman and her child narrowly escaped serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident on U.S. 1 South in Southern Pines. Their car went off the road, flipped after losing control on a dirt section, but both managed to get out unharmed. The child was checked and released at the scene, while the mother was transported to the hospital with non-serious injuries. The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
